7 Ways To Stop Breaking Your Own Heart

Updated: Feb 3, 2022

This month we’re talking all about love. Love, as you may know, is hard work. Just as we try our hardest in our relationships with others – it’s an important reminder to know that the same energy should be used to cultivate love for ourselves. To cultivate love, it is essential to treat our own hearts with the respect it deserves. Similar to how we would like to avoid having our hearts broken by another person, it’s just as, if not more, important that we are not at the root of our own heartbreak.

So how can we stop breaking our own hearts?

  1. Refrain from checking up on people who no longer hold space in your life

  2. Stop overexplaining yourself or proving your value to people who are committed to misunderstanding you

  3. Learn how to let things occur naturally – let the weight of heavy expectations go. Anticipating that others will neatly fill your expectations may put you at risk of disappointment

  4. Lead with an open mind

  5. Stop depending on others to lead you towards happiness. You are at the center of your universe, and the source of your own joy

  6. Respect and accept people as they are rather than clinging onto the hope of what you want them to change into

  7. Stay out of your own way

As we move forward this month, I urge you to choose yourself. I hope you define your worth and value on your own terms. I wish you best of luck at navigating through your personal relationships and would like to remind you that you deserve the same love you keep giving others!

As always with love,

Jacqui
