How I Vision Board Series: Part 1

A vision board is a tool that can be used to visualize your goals through the use of pictures and words. This is a tool that I have found to be useful for me over the last couple of years to help me accomplish both big and small goals. When making a vision board, the point is to self-reflect and think about what your goals are; they can be fitness goals, life goals, academic goals, etc. The purpose of having a vision board is so that you see it often (daily) and visualize yourself achieving those goals. The board is there as a reminder that you are working towards those specific goals. Think about what goals you want to achieve both long-term and short-term. Print or cut out words and pictures that will help motivate you to achieve those goals and make it cute! The most important thing is to place the vision board somewhere where you can clearly see it every day. For me, I like to make sure that I can see it as soon as I wake up in the morning. This helps me consider my goals daily and motivates me to get out of bed. There are many studies done which highlight the benefits of visualization where you visualize yourself already achieving your goal. Imagine how you would feel and put yourself in that emotional state. The main focus of a vision board is to help you visualize how you will feel when you accomplish your goals.
